FAQ
Quick answers for nodes, validators, and Phase Zero onboarding.
Nodes (Phase Zero)
Do I have to pay to run a node?
You don’t pay DeFi Network to run a node — but you will have normal operating costs: hardware, electricity, and internet. Phase Zero is designed to be lightweight and accessible so early operators can join without enterprise infrastructure.
How do nodes earn rewards during bootstrapping?
During Phase Zero, nodes can receive rewards as part of the network bootstrapping program. This is where early participation matters most: you help stabilize the network, prove uptime, and increase resilience while the ecosystem is still forming. Rewards are delivered through your Omni Wallet address once the program is active.
Think of it as “Genesis credit” for early infrastructure support — before full validator economics are opened to the public.
After bootstrapping, why run a node?
After bootstrapping ends, nodes remain critical infrastructure. Even without direct block rewards, nodes still provide real value:
- They strengthen decentralization and reduce single points of failure.
- They keep the network censorship-resistant and globally distributed.
- They support faster syncing, query reliability, and public access to chain data.
- They help protect the ecosystem against outages, rate-limits, and infrastructure attacks.
In the long run, the strongest networks are the ones with enough independent nodes to survive any environment. That’s what makes DeFi Network sovereign.
How private is node onboarding?
Node onboarding can be anonymous. You don’t need to reveal a legal name. Your node exists as a machine on the network — not as an identity profile.
Note: like all internet-connected systems, your hosting provider or local network may know your IP. DeFi Network itself does not require identity, location, or personal information to run a node.
Validators
Do I need 1,000 DeFi tokens immediately?
No. The 1,000 DeFi stake requirement is the unlock for validator eligibility and governance participation. Phase Zero exists so early participants can earn, build, and accumulate over time — before the network opens full validator competition.
How do validators receive rewards?
Validator rewards are delivered on-chain directly to the validator payout address. That address is controlled only by the validator — not by DeFi Network.
Once the network is live, block rewards and validator economics are automated. Rewards are visible in Omni Wallet and can be tracked transparently on-chain.
What is Omni Wallet in Phase Zero?
In Phase Zero, Omni Wallet starts as a web dashboard — accessible through OnlyOnDeFi.com. It’s the entry point for monitoring the network, receiving rewards, and onboarding nodes and validators as the chain evolves.
Phase Zero focuses on stability and infrastructure first. Omni Wallet expands as Mainnet approaches.
How private is validator onboarding?
Validator onboarding is privacy-first and email-based. You don’t need to provide a legal name. The network doesn’t require a personal profile — only technical readiness.
